In this time of sickness, we’re all looking for something to boost our immune system.  This immunity shot with ginger and lemon is a great way to boost your immune system in the morning to get you ready for the day!

In eighth grade, I came upon a video somewhere on the world wide web, of somebody making a shot of lemon and ginger juice.  I decided to try it myself.  The first time I made it, I was a bit surprised by the kick it had! (If you try this recipe, you’ll understand what I mean.😂) But the more I drank the ginger and lemon juice combo, the more I liked it!

I loved it so much that I decided to bring it to school and have my friends try it.  We all sat around the lunch table drinking tiny little spoonfuls of really strong ginger + lemon shots. I am not sure how my middle school principal didn’t say anything or ask any questions to be honest. 😉  But, that became my thing.  My friend group had a joke about how healthy I am because of the ginger + lemon shots.  (My parents actually didn’t know about this story until now so… sorry Mom and Dad!😂)

Organic Ginger vs Normal Ginger

I am generally not a bit advocator for the organic movement, but in this case, I DEFINITELY recommend spending a little extra money on organic ginger.

As you can see there is a LARGE difference between the two shots. The bright yellow one was made with organic ginger and lemon juice. The shot with a red tint was made with non-organic ginger and lemon juice. I’m not sure what happens, but some of the chemicals in the non-organic ginger react with the lemon juice to make the shot turn red. The organic ginger shot also has a much stronger kick!

Moral of the story, buy organic ginger. 😉

On top of being delicious, this shot has so many health benefits!

Ginger Health Benefits

  • improves blood flow
  • anti-inflammatory
  • aids digestion
  • strengthens immune system
  • (if pregnant) minimizes morning sickness

Lemon Health Benefits

  • good source of vitamin C
  • reduces risk of kidney stones
  • also aids digestion
  • lowering stroke risk
  • helps maintain a healthy completion
