This sweet and sour ramen recipe is the perfect way to fancy up a bowl of ramen. On top of being incredibly easy to make, it’s super delicious!!
Everyone loves a bowl of ramen. What’s not to love? It’s easy, cheap, and really yummy. growing up, Ramen was my go to meal after swim practice. I was obsessed with it!😂
The other day I got Roman at the grocery store because I hadn’t had it in such a long time. But, I decide to do something fun with it. Instead of just having a normal bowl of ramen with a pack of seasoning that it comes with, I spiced it up and made my own sauce. It was delicious!
This sauce makes me feel like I’m having a fancy asian inspired bowl of pasta when in reality it took 10 minutes to make and it’s just a pack of 99 cent Ramen!
Why is it so yummy?
First step of making pasta is to toss out that bag of spices that comes with it. That stuff is not it!
It’s over-salted, the flavor is a bit overpowering and overall just not great.
Then we made the yummy sweet and sour sauce. This is just a mix of soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, rice vinegar, ketchup, and a pinch of garlic powder.
When the ramen is almost ready, drain it, put it back into the pot, and pour in the sauce. Cook that on medium heat for about 5 minutes to reduce the sauce and BOOM! You got a delicious bowl of sweet and sour ramen in 10 minutes!
The biggest secret for this ramen is to add some sesame seeds and chopped chives on top. In my opinion, those two additions really improve the ramen!
Sweet and Sour Ramen Recipe
Put 1 cup of water to boil in a small pot. When it begins boiling put in the ramen noodles until almost cooked. (This takes very little time.)
While the water is heating/ramen is cooking, whisk together the soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ketchup, and garlic powder until well combined.
When the noodles are almost ready, drain them, put them in the pot, and pour in the sauce. Cook this on medium heat for about 5 minutes to reduce the suace. Plate, top with sesame seeds + chives, and enjoy!

Notes
Note
- Don’t use the pack of seasoning the ramen comes with. It will overpower the sauce and end up too salty.
I loved this recipe I will try it at home
Yay! Thanks so much Simon! Let us know how it goes. 🙂
