Ok, so we’ve all had this happen to us. You forget that you bought bananas at the store on Sunday. Then, Friday rolls around, you look at your kitchen counter, and find a bunch of bananas that have gone bad! 🤭 So you do the only thing you know to do: you run to google in a panic and search up “what do I do with old bananas??”.
I’m here to show you the absolute best way to use up those nasty brown banana that you are trying not to have to throw away.
This banana chocolate chip cookie recipe is here to save your day! These cookies are sweet, delicious, and, of course, incredibly easy to make!
Ingredient Notes
This is just a little rundown of my fav ingredients/brands to use for this specific recipe.
- Bananas – As I mentioned earlier, I try to make the bananas that I use pretty ripe. If they are too new, the consistency isn’t as great. 🙂
- Sugars – This is the other sweetener in this recipe. I feel like the combo of brown sugar and white. It created a deeper + more complex tasting cookie.
- Mix-Ins – This is the yummy part! When recipe testing, I first imagined just a banana cookie. I felt like that was kinda boring so, I reimagined the cookie and created this! I added semi-sweet chocolate chips (which are always the way to go) and some chopped walnuts. Those two made the biggest difference! The cookies gained a yummy nuttiness from the walnuts and delicious
chocolateyness from the choc chips, and became so delicious!
This banana chocolate chip cookie is about to change your life! It’s super yummy AND really easy to make! Ok I can’t wait anymore! Let’s bake some cookiessss!!
Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F and prepare a baking pan with a sheet of parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and both sugars until light in color. Then blend in eggs one by one. When those are all combined, mix in mashed bananas and vanilla extract.
Whisk together flour, salt, and soda then mix it into the wet ingredients in 2 parts. Lastly, fold in walnuts and choc chips. Scoop onto the baking sheet and place in the pre-heated oven. Begin by bake for 10 minutes then add on if necessary. (This will depend on the size of your cookies and how your oven bakes)
Once they are ready, let them cool for 5-10 minutes and serve. Enjoy! <3
