Cinnamon, apple, and streusel on top comes together to make the perfect summer dessert. This apple tart is flakey, sweet, and so delicious!

Fall has always been my favorite season. The weather changes, the trees are beautiful, football season has started, and all the treats are so yummy. The beginning of fall marks the start of things like roasted squash, pumpkin pie, and apple related treats!

These can range from a carmel apple, to apple cider, or, my personal favorite, apple pie!!

So, I decided, I need to make apple pie! But, it’s the middle of summer so I felt the need to revamp the pie into something more fitting for the season.  I felt like an apple tart was the perfect solution!

If you’ve never made a tart, now is the time! They’re so easy to make, really fun, and super underrated! I never hear about people making tarts so, that’s what we’re doing.☺️

Steps To The Perfect Tart

Step one of the apple tart making comes before you even begin cooking.  It starts with the pan.  A tart pan generally comes in two separate parts.  A rim and a base.  This way, you can easily take the tart out of its tin when it’s ready.  I bought this one recently and I really love it!  The color is also super cute. 😉

If you don’t have a tart pan/don’t want to invest in one, feel free to use a pie pan.  It won’t be exactly the same, but the final product should be pretty similar.  Just be sure to form the dough to not go up too high around the edges.  It should only go up about an inch and a half.  Any more and the dessert will turn more into a pie.

Next comes the actual tart!  We start with the crust.  My pie crust recipe is super flakey and easy to make.  (Here’s the link.)  To make the crust just mix together the salt and flour, add the shortening and mash it into the flour, pour in water, and mix until it forms a ball of dough.

Overall the process is pretty simple and it takes less than 15 minutes. 🙂

Next comes the filling.  My biggest tip is to thinly slice the apple, mix them with the flavoring and sweetening ingredients, then carefully layer them into the pan.  If your layer them evenly, the texture of the tart will be much more enjoyable and it will bake more evenly.

Lastly comes the streusel on top!  This is just the perfect top to the crust and apple filling!  All you do is combine the sugar, butter, flour, and cinnamon and mix.  Then crumble it on top before baking and you got yourself a yummy streusel.
