This is my absolute favorite way to cook potatoes!  These smashed golden potatoes are crispy, salty, and perfect!  AND  they take less than 5 ingredients so they’re super easy!!

Potatoes are pretty amazing!  Like seriously, God did something really great when he made potatoes!  They are satisfying, versatile, and overall so delicious!

Today’s blog post is short and sweet because the recipe is so incredibly easy!  It takes less than 5 ingredients and 10 minutes of prep time!

These golden potatoes are my family and I’s absolute favorite way to make potatoes!  They are crispy on the edges but soft on the inside and the perfect combo of salty and garlicky.  There are really no flaws with these potatoes!

On top of being delicious and super easy, they are really fun to make!  Haha I know that makes me sound like a five year old but, I’m fine with that.:)  They’re honestly so fun!  Let me tell you why!👇

How to make these delicious potatoes?

  1. Boil some potatoes.  There isn’t much elaborating I can do on that so, that’s it for this step.😂
  2. When the potatoes can be easily punctured with a knife, grab a clean towel, and begin to press them flat with the palm of your hand one by one.  This is the fun part!  I go to town when I smash the potatoes!  Just be sure to leave them at about a ¼ inch thickness.
  3. Sprinkle one side with salt and garlic powder, flip it with a large spatula onto a lightly oiled baking pan, and sprinkle with a tiny bit more salt and garlic powder. Continue this with all the potatoes.
  4. Drizzle a little bit of oil on top and bake in a broiler for about 10 minutes.  Just be sure to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t burn.  Everyone’s oven cooks at different speeds.

That’s it!  Those are the 4 steps for the best potatoes of your life!

Notes

  • This seems really random but when you’re choosing your potatoes at the grocery store, try to find the smallest golden potatoes you can.  That will make it easier to smash and flip later.
  • Don’t be too cautious with the salt.  These potatoes are best when they’re pretty salty in my opinion.  😉
  • It’s best if the towel is smooth/more like cloth. This way potato bits won’t get stuck in the textured weave.
