This recipe for salmon patties is about to be your absolute favorite way to prepare salmon! It’s perfectly salty with a kick or garlic + parsley to make it the perfect lunch or dinner!

Who doesn’t love salmon? I seriously don’t think I’ve ever meet a person who wasn’t a fan.

Personally, I am completely OBSESSED with this fish! It has a great flavor that’s not too fishy and perfect layers that make eating it make it super satisfying to eat.

Because I love salmon so much, I eat it all the time but that also means that some days I get a bit bored with it. So, the other day, I wanted to reinvent it into a new fun form. After some brainstorming + recipe testing, I landed on these delicious salmon patties. They are literally so good!

Now let’s go into some more detail about the ingredients.

Salmon

Ok so, trust me. I understand how crazy expensive salmon is. I don’t feel that getting a super pricey high quality fillet of fish is super important in this recipe because the fish is being mixed with some other ingredients. So, moral of the story: don’t waste your money on overpriced salmon. 🙂

Binding Ingredients

The combined use of an egg, flour, and breadcrumbs keeps the patties from falling apart while cooking. When eggs and flour come together, they make a dough that combines well with the salmon to make it bind without being too doughy

What takes you to flavor town

The perfect flavor is achieved but adding salt, garlic powder, and finely chopped parsley. I know that sounds pretty simple but, that’s a good thing. Salmon has such a great flavor on its own that I find it works best to not over power it with too much extra spice. It’s best if you add a bit of tarter sauce or even ranch.

Also, I love the combo of these salmon patties on top of a salad, especially one with arugula! The fresh flavor of the greens goes great with the fried salmon.

Ingredients
 7 oz salmon
 1 egg
 ¼ cup breadcrumbs
 ¼ tsp salt
 ¼ tsp garlic powder
 1 tbsp finely chopped parsley
 ½ tbsp all purpose flour

Directions
1

Heat a skillet with a little bit of olive oil and saute a 7 oz fillet of salmon. Cook it until it's almost completely light pink. (Or almost 145 degrees F.) Take off the skin, if you have any, then mash the salmon with a fork into smaller pieces.

2

Combine salt, garlic powder, the egg, flour, parsley, and breadcrumbs in the bowl w/ the salmon. Mix until it becomes a homogenous mixture.

3

Then, in the same pan you used before, pour a little bit of oil and heat it up on medium heat. While the oil is heating up, make the patties. Just get a large spoonful in your hands, roll it into a ball, and flatten it out with your palms so it's about 1/2-1 inch thick. Put a few flattened patties onto the pan and cook until they reach a golden brown color on the bottom. Flip and let the other side cook until it reaches the same color.

Let cool for a few minutes then enjoy! <3

Notes

  • When mashing the salmon, don’t mash too much or the texture will be a bit funky. Try to leave some little flakes form the salmon’s natural form .
  • These go really great with ranch or tarter sauce if you would like to add some more flavor.
