This is my absolute favorite recipe for chocolate chip banana muffins! They are sweet, moist, and overall pretty darn perfect!

Everybody loves classic banana bread.  Of course, what’s not to like?  It’s sweet, moist, and oh so delicious!  And it’s the perfect use of old nasty bananas!

As much as I love basic banana bread, I’ve decided to put a little twist on the classic recipe.  I’ve added some delicious CHOCOLATE CHIPS and put it into muffin form!! What’s my reasoning for doing so?

1. Chocolate is delicious. Obviously. 😉

2. Bananas and chocolate pair wonderfully together.

3. The muffin form is super easy to bake and take to go

Do I need to convince you why this is a good idea anymore?  I didn’t think so. 🙂

Ok so let’s get into some specifics about the recipe.

Chocolate

The banana muffins themselves are already pretty sweet as it is so I don’t like introducing another super sweet element into the recipe.  Instead of using milk chocolate, I prefer using semi-sweet choc chips.  Those balance out so well with the sweet notes from the banana.

Bananas

In this recipe I do not accept bright yellow bananas!  (Don’t even try slightly green bananas…) I like my bananas to be more brown than yellow!  Well, if there’s something growing on your bananas you might wanna toss those into the compost bin. But otherwise, use those brown bananas! 😉 I promise you the muffins will turn out much better!

Mixing the Ingredients

Believe it or not, the way you mix your ingredients makes a difference.  Always start with room temp butter and cream it with sugar.  This is the point at which you can incorporate air into the batter.  Mix the two until they are light and fluffy.  Then mix in the eggs one by one.  Mixing them in one at a time makes sure that you don’t loose the air you’ve built into the sugar and butter.  Then you add in mashed bananas.  Mix the batter until those are just combined.

Next comes the dry ingredients.  Sift all the dry ingredients and add them in parts.  This will keep the batter from becoming a funky clumpy mess. 🙂 Lastly we have the most important part!  Fold in the yummy chocolate chips!

Then into the oven we go.  Ten to fifteen minutes later, you have delicious chocolate chip banana muffins!  Yum!😋
